Blog

Playing catch-up

Quite a bit has been going on in the past few weeks, and months for that matter, which has unfortunately (for the blog not for my professional interests) kept me from updating regularly. To that end here is an all encompassing post.

While still immersed in my first graphic novel for Arcana and completing Volume 1 of Benjamin and the Fish I was offered a job by Peter Maurin Screen Printers designing T-shirts for a local food vendor, “Big Bite” (© 2012).  Below are 2 designs submitted for the clients approval:

I’ve also been working with the “RU” (artist collective planning something BIG!!) on completing a pitch to be shopped around to various publishers alongside other members/pitches in said collective. Without giving too much of the story away, posted below is one of the penciled pages from the pitch package:

Don’t worry…it’ll all make sense. Anyway, I’ve got to get back to work but I promise more images, updates and projects will be posted soon!

The Moon and the Sun

Late last night, or early this morning rather, all final art was delivered to my editor at Viper Comics for a forthcoming children’s book which will soon be released digitally (and possibly in print). Details to follow. Here are a few of my favorite illustrations:

Lots of news coming soon!!

Commissions

Hey y’all!

Amidst the myriad of projects I am currently involved with (of which more news/images will be coming soon) I would also at this time like to open myself up to a few commissions. Anything from original drawings of the character of your choice, which make great presents for any occasion, to customized tattoo designs (examples pictured below). If you dream it, I can draw it. It will be on a first come, first serve basis so if you’re interested give me a holler at leadheadajs@yahoo.com or comment on this post.

From conception...
...to completion

Final Cover Art (B & W)

Below is the final art, sans color, for my book with Viper Comics to be released late spring/early summer. Details to follow…

Next is a picture I snapped of a page of original art I sent to my editor as a thank you.

Other project updates/news:

  • Well into the art (about 1/4 of the way) and story written for the Arcana Studios graphic novel with friend and writer  Scott Tamanaha working on the script.
  • “Benjamin and the Fish” Volume 1 from 215 Ink to be released digitally by mid-summer and in print in August.
  • Sketch cards in Alterna Originals trading cards to be available fall of 2o12.
  • Signed by I’m A Geek entertainment for upcoming mini-series project which is about all I can say about that for now…

I believe that’s about everything for now…more on the horizon so stay tuned!

Taking a break

In between working on projects I decided to do a quick sketch of this guy. Who is he? All I’ll say for now is he’s part of an idea for a one shot (or possible graphic novel). Until then, enjoy!

This weekend I’ll be heading to Anaheim for this years Wondercon. Anyone else going??

Designs, rough illos and a picture worth a word or two

Happy Monday folks! Today I just wanted to take a moment to share some character designs for my upcoming graphic novel with Arcana and a rough illustration from a new all-ages prose book which will be released digitally through Viper.

Who are they? For that you will have to wait for the GN to be released…

Today I also wanted to post a picture of a doll made by the very talented Terry Uchida of Mr. Fish, the beloved stuffed companion from Benjamin and the Fish. This will very possibly become an actual line of toys in the future…

Project(s) updates

Over the past couple weeks I have been hard at work writing and designing characters for my upcoming graphic novel with Arcana. Benjamin and the Fish is still in production and should be available, at least digitally, by summer.

Below is a photo of the cover art for my one-shot with Viper Comics which should be available very soon!
