Appearances and updates

Hey folks…lots going on here so I apologize for the lack of updates.

First off, a couple of appearances for next month. On October 6th I’ll be participating in the Salinas Artober celebration and will be drawing for interested parties and selling my wares out of my good friend and fellow cartoonist Bridgett Spicer’s studio. Information can be found here or read the flyer posted below (also created by Bridgett):

On October 13th I’ll be conducting a workshop on networking in the industry at the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco. Details on that event (and other workshops) can be found here.

Though this post is sorely lacking in new artwork, there will be plenty posted in the near future including a couple of creator-owned projects, my mini-series with I’m A Geek Entertainment and insight into a slightly new (albeit revisited) direction I’ll be taking. Just a hint: it will contain art but it ain’t comics…

End of Summer update

To date this is by far the busiest year I’ve had in comics, hence the lack of updates. It’s a great problem to have though there never seem to be enough hours in the day to finish everything.

Here are some images from projects I am currently working on or have recently completed. Alterna Originals Trading card set, a character design from new mini-series to be released by I’m A Geek Entertainment and a test page for a possible new pitch:

I’ll also be teaching a workshop on networking in the industry at the upcoming Alternative Press Expo (APE) in San Francisco. Check their site for details and updates.

More news on current projects, including creator-owned works in progress, coming soon…

Arcana and beyond…

As of a few days ago, after 4 months and some change of co-writing and drawing, I wrapped up my duties for the graphic novel which will be released from Arcana. Following are the cover and a few pages of artwork from the book (additional samples posted in the gallery):

From here I will be moving on to work on a mini-series with I’m A Geek Entertainment, the Alterna Originals Sketchcards and a couple of creator-owned projects I’ll be developing with some industry friends that I’m very excited about!

More news about all this and more coming very soon…

An interview and a couple character designs

Recently I was interviewed by the very cool news/review site Buyindiecomics.com. Check it out here:

Here are also a couple of character designs for some possible upcoming projects:

I’m in the home stretch of the graphic novel for Arcana and I’ll have a whole mess of news and announcements in the upcoming month so come on back in the next few weeks to see what’s cookin’ next!!

Project updates 6/6

I very quickly just wanted to let y’all know what’s going on as I probably won’t have another chance to post for a few weeks.

First up I will be finishing all the artwork this month for my upcoming graphic novel with Arcana Comics. It’s the culmination of nearly 4 months of work and it will feel great when it’s completed! Below are a few phone pics (I apologize in advance for the poor quality) of pages in progress:

Once the book is done I will be moving on to complete the first volume of Benjamin and the Fish from 215 Ink which we hope to have out later this year. Then it will be time to complete my sketch cards to be included in the Alterna Originals Trading card set due to be released this Fall. At that time I’ll also be working on a mini-series with I’m A Geek entertainment and hopefully a few pitches I’m very excited about with some industry pals.

Alright, I think that’s about all for now. Thanks to everyone for the continued support and I look forward to sharing more news with you very soon!!

Teasers

Hey folks…sorry It’s been kind of quiet here on the ole’ blog as of late but I’ve been hard at work on a number of projects which will hopefully be out for all of you to see and enjoy in the very near future.

In the meantime I wanted to share a few teaser images from a couple of those projects.

Free Comic Book Day!

Tomorrow, May 5th 2012, is Free Comic Book Day all across North America! For those who may not know, Free Comic Book Day is celebrated every year on the first Saturday in May. On this particular day comic shops all across the country give away FREE comics to anyone who decides to visit and/or wait in line for such festivities! Depending on the store there could also be prize giveaways and creator appearances and signings. Basically, if you’ve been thinking about possibly getting in to comics, tomorrow is a good day to do it. For more information and to locate a comic shop near you visit: http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Home/1/1/27/992

Adam Wilson, my collaborator and writer on “Benjamin and the Fish“, asked me to produce an image he could hand out to kids (of all ages) visiting the Delaware shop where he will be appearing. However, as most of you (including myself) will not be in Delaware tomorrow I’m posting the piece here for all to enjoy:
